Be a Sports Coach in Schools |
Sports Plus currently have 15 women working on their coaching team out of a total of 30 staff. That's a pretty impressive 50/50 split in the workforce.
Out of that 15, 7 are currently playing women's football for various clubs ranging from Northern Combination to County League standard. Sport Plus, as a company, assist schools with their Physical Education needs.
To give you an idea of what it's like to be employed by Sports Plus and offer an insight into working full time in a coaching company, we are focusing on one of Sports Plus' Management Team, Donna Arrowsmith.
Donna started working for Sports Plus in January, 2009, as a Sports Coach. Within three months, Donna's hard work and determination was recognised with a promotion to 'Schools Partnership Manager'.
Donna's main duties include:
Donna fits playing football around her job role, finishing coaching usually at 4.30pm each day, ready to go to the gym or club training (Donna has played for a number of clubs over the years, including Aston Villa, Manchester City,
Crewe Alex, Stoke City and Wolves Women). Although, she has been taking training a little more lightly recently. It's not that it's the summer either but being eight months pregnant, she is forgiven for that!
Donna had this to say about working with Sports Plus: "Since joining the coaching team at Sports Plus my level of teaching has gone from strength to strength, I have completed courses and qualifications in Breakdancing, Cheerleading, Kombat Fitness, American Skipping and Street Dance too. This has given me the range of additional knowledge in order to become a more generic and complete Sports Coach. I would highly recommend that girls and women consider working for a sport's coaching company. I would recommend they take a look at the new website for our company, Sports Plus: www.learn2coachsport.co.uk which will be launching ready for the 'Grass Roots Football Show 2010'."
Donna's current club are title-chasing Dudley United Ladies FC of West Midlands Division 1 South. They are managed by Sports Plus' Managing Director, Andy Mulligan.
"We are always looking for new Sports Coaches here at Sports Plus," explains Mulligan,"the company has had very good business growth in the last few years. 2010 brings exciting times for us, with the launch of three new Websites and the launch of our Franchise Model for Specialist Sports Coaches.
"Our vision for Sports Plus is to go Nationwide in the future and we are looking for the right staff and coaching team to take us there."
