Third 'Female Legends' Success

Another feast of female football was served up on Friday night, at Match Day Centres, Wadham Lodge.

It was the third Female Legends tournaments run by Tottenham Hotspur Foundation. Women from all over London battled out to be Female Legends champions.

Forty female players yet again put on a highly entertaining hour and a half of football. The group games were closely contested and the top two teams finished on the same points and same number of goals scored. The final was between the ever present Redz United, who have reached all three finals and previous winners The Parrots. It was a case of third time lucky for Redz United (pictured above), who overcame The Parrots. The third place play off was between Women Untied and Blues United who were entering for the first time. Blues narrowly clinched third place with a 2-1 victory.

The tournament Fair play award was won by newcomers Blues United, by a single point showing that all players played the game in the right way. The final winner of the night was Sarafea Braveboy from overall winners Redz United.

Foundation Coach Olivia Worsfold spoke after the tournament, “It was pleasing to see Redz finally win a tournament, they have come so close in the past. It was also nice to see players without a team turn up in the hope they could play, these ladies were both welcomed into teams on the night.” Speaking on the next tournament she said “We already have teams signed up for the next date, which isn’t far away. Hopefully we will be welcoming new teams who have entered before.”

Tottenham Hotspur foundation will be running two more Female Legends tournaments at Match Day Centres, Wadham Lodge.
