Tottenham Hotspur's 3-0 win over MK Dons has moved them closer to a top-four finish in the South East Combination. Vanessa Storey put Tottenham ahead with a tap-in after Sam Pittuck had robbed a defender. Pittuck rolled home a penalty awarded for handball and a fine cross by Emma Kayser was headed home by Storey.
Spurs are a point behind the Dons, with three games in hand, with third-placed Lewes losing at home to Norwich City. The Canaries will expect progress up the table, with still half their fixtures to complete. Both the bottom two sides won 2-1, as Ebbsfleet United sent Northampton Town to defeat and Cambridge posted a 2-1 scoreline against Ipswich Town.
'Fleet' came from behind to take the points, Kelly Philpott cancelled out the Cobblers' opener, Jay Blackie's long-range speculative effort on 80 minutes proved decisive, although Faye Baker was forced into a great save to net the visitors a first win of the season.
Yeovil Town enhanced their South West Combination title hopes with a 2-1 win over leaders Newquay - the third time they have beaten the Peppermints this term. Jemma Tewkesbury was twice on target, the second just 3 minutes from time. Dawna Dennett netted a late reply and the hosts held out through 7 minutes of stoppage time, despite losing two players to injury.
Chesham United cut Newquay's lead to one point with two games in hand, after a fine 2-0 victory at Plymouth Argyle, in which Kate Bowers struck twice. Kirsty Richardson bagged a brace in Forest Green Rovers' 3-1 result at Cullompton Rangers.
Coventry City have a ten-point lead at the top of the Midland Combination, following a 4-0 win at Stoke City. Jade Formaston forced own-goals from the Potters, either side of the interval, the first coming during a goalmouth scramble, the second via a corner. Wonder strikes from Emily Hanson and Helen Dermody then confirmed the Sky Blues win. Rotherham United hit Loughborough Foxes for six, while Copsewood and Leicester City Ladies finished goalless.
Just two Northern Combination games went ahead but leaders Rochdale were held 1-1 at home by Liverpool Feds. Stockport County jumped two places to fourth, after a 3-2 win at Scunthorpe United.
