Scottish Premier Boroughmuir Fold

With just over a week to go until the start of the new Scottish season, a Premier league side has already gone to the wall.

Last weekend, rumours spread that Boroughmuir Thistle had folded. This was confirmed yesterday afternoon when the side were removed from the SWF fixture lists, to be replaced by Falkirk. Falkirk will also play rangers in the first round of the Premier League Cup.

Founded in 2007, Boroughmuir's high point was gaining promotion to the Premier League in season 2007/08, finishing 9th in their first season and reaching the quarter finals of the Premier Cup.

Spartans have now stepped in to snap up Boroughmuir players Ashley Nicolson and Kirsty McLaughlin. Kirsty had been set to join Glasgow City but opted instead to join the Edinburgh side.
