Exciting Blues News!

Birmingham City Ladies FC have proudly announced their squad which will take part in the The FA WSL next year.

Inclusion in the 8 team line up in The FA WSL (Women’s Super League) signalled the dawn of a new era for ‘The Blues’ (we love their squad pics!) who are relishing the opportunity to make history as women’s football in England takes a giant step forward.

The club are looking forward to competing against all 7 clubs in what promises to be an exciting season ahead for everyone.

Club Chairman, Steve Shipway, says ‘we have been working tirelessly over the past 6 months to bring this talented group of players together. We aim to bring a brand of football to the league that will bring success and supporters will enjoy watching. With this squad and other developments, there is a real sense of eager anticipation at the club ahead of the forthcoming season.’

The club, and squad are now preparing for the pre-season training phase which will start in earnest in January 2011.

Laura Watts Goalkeeper: Re-signs for the club
Chelsea Weston Defender: England U23 returns to the club from Doncaster Belles
Laura Bassett Defender: England Senior returns to the club from Leeds Carnegie
Jess Wright Defender: Signed from Leeds Carnegie
Kerys Harrop Defender: England U23 resigns for the club
Faye Cardin Defender: Re-signs for the club
Sally Stanton Midfielder: Re-signs for the club
Jade Moore Midfielder: England U23 signed from Leeds Carnegie
Isobel Christiansen Midfielder: England U23 resigns for the club
Emily Westwood Midfielder: Signed from Everton
Rachel Williams Midfielder: England U23 signed from Doncaster Belles
Heather Scheuber Midfielder: Re-signs for the club

Neither are workable or likely at present but hypothetically, would you prefer a more strict salary cap in the FA WSL OR should centrally contracted England players (that receive salaries from The FA) be allocated more evenly around WSL1 clubs?
