Ronan's U-19 Squad For UEFA qualifiers

Republic of Ireland U-19s are in UEFA Championship qualifying action next week in Croatia, where they also face Cyprus and Russia.

With the UEFA Championship finals taking place in Italy next summer, only the top two teams of the first qualifying phase advance to the elite qualifying phase, which will take place next spring.

Susan Ronan will have to plan for the first qualifying phase without any of the current members of the Irish U-17 side, who as UEFA Championship finalists, are currently participating at the FIFA World Cup in Trinidad and Tobago.

Even though Ireland's manager, Susan Ronan, has been able to call-on some experienced internationals such as Becky Walsh from Salthill Devon, Avril Kilkelly from Castlebar Celtic and Arsenal's Lois Roche, Ronan has only been able to call-on four players who have any experience at U-19 level.

Ireland kick-off their campaign in earnest with a tricky encounter against Cyprus on September 11th, before meeting the tournament hosts, Croatia on September 13th. Ronan's side complete their first qualifying fixtures against a highly rated Russia team at the Gradski vrt stadium in Osijek.
