Sweden, who had already secured a place in the play offs with a win over Czech Republic, finished their campaign on a high with three goals from Josefine Oqvist and two from Lotte Schelin.
Schelin struck first on 12 minutes, with Oqvist making it 2-0 on half-time. Oqvist's second arrived 10 minutes after the restart, Schelin made it 4-0 on the hour and Oqvist completed her hat-trick on 72 minutes.
Wales however put up a good fight against the world's fourth ranked team, with several shots on target, culminating in an 81st minute goal from Gwennan Harries, who was also named player of the match.
The match also saw Michelle Green become the fourth female player in Wales to be capped for the fiftieth time.
In Wednesday's other Group 8 match, Czech Republic beat Azerbaijan 8-0.
Wales finishes fourth in the group with three wins, one each against Czech Republic, Belgium and Azerbaijan.
