Maple Products from Quebec, which represents the Federation of Quebec Maple Syrup Producers (FPAQ), sponsored both West Bromwich Albion FC Women and Girls’ Talent Club (TC) and Birmingham City FC Girls’ Regional Talent Club (RTC) for the 2016/17 season.

FPAQ looks after the interests of over 7,300 maple businesses in Quebec, which is responsible for 93 per cent of the Canadian production and for 71 per cent of today’s global maple syrup output.

The two football clubs have helped raise awareness of Maple Products from Quebec in the UK, through sponsorship and activity aimed at athletes and those interested in sports nutrition.

The deals saw players from each of the teams wear Maple Products from Quebec branded match day and training kits throughout the 2016/17 season.

As part of the sponsorship agreement, FPAQ also worked with the clubs to educate players, families and supporters about the benefits of pure maple syrup as a healthy sugar substitute and how it can be incorporated into sport, fitness and every day cooking.

Serge Beaulieu, President of the Federation of Quebec Maple Syrup Producers, commented on the deal: “Targeting sports consumers is the next stage of our campaign to educate the British audience on the benefits of pure Quebec maple products as a healthy sugar substitute.

“In Quebec maple is used by professional athletes of all disciplines before, during and after exercise because of its 100% natural production and abundance of antioxidants and minerals in comparison to processed sugars.

“Sponsoring these two clubs provides a brilliant opportunity to promote the message of maple in sport.”
