She Kicks Back: Kate Fidler (Clapham Utd WFC)

Our second victim of the She Kicks Back interview is Chelsea loving, Clapham hot shot, Kate Fidler.

No faffing about or chit chat here, we're going straight to kick off...

1. Name: Kate Fidler
2. Age (D.O.B): 23 (26/05/1986)
3. Team: Clapham United WFC
4. Position (and have you always played there)? Striker, but I played left wing until I went to university and sometimes drop back to centre mid if we are desperate :P
5. Team Supporter/Fave player? Chelsea and Frankie Lampard and Joey Cole
6. Occupation/or what you are studying? I studied Computer Science (geek ;) ) and now do Technology for an Investment Bank.
7. Are there other footballers in your family? We are a football supporting family but no other players, in fact my brother has taken up rugby instead.
8. Favourite game you have played in (and why)? Of recent times (I have been playing since I was 7) it has to be my last game for my University (Royal Holloway). We were joint top of the league and the last game of the season was against the team we were joint top with and we had a great habit of losing to them every year. So, it was amazing to beat them 1-0, to take the title and secondly, it was great to have provided the cross for the goal and to get to finish Uni on a high.
I guess my other highlight will have to be winning the double with Chelsea U-14s girls and winning every game of the season, including 2 30-0's - a little brutal, I know.
9. Your best attribute as a player? According to my team, it's my big left foot.
10. What are your ambitions in football? Right now, I really want Clapham to win a trophy and get promoted and this season is currently going extremely well and one of those ambitions could actually be achieved, which is exciting. Secondly, just to generally keep enjoying it and have fun and have a few drinks with the girls.
11. Who has been the biggest influence in or on your footballing career?
My year at Chelsea ended up being one of the biggest influences on me and then, going to Uni, and seeing the fun, sociable side of it and finding my obsession with the game again.
12. What is the best thing about playing for your team?
Our team spirit is awesome at Clapham. Whatever the weather and whatever the scoreline, we always give 100%, have a laugh and be sociable.
13. If you got to design your team’s kit, what would it look like?
All I will say on this, is, I would get rid of the white shorts. Really not a great thing on the common when it's raining, the dirt just doesn't come out!! And of course, maybe make the shirts a more 'Chelsea blue' rather than navy, but that's a biased opinion.
14. Do you listen to music to get you motivated or while you train – if so, what tracks?
I used to at Uni and I guess Indie, dance anything with a good fast beat to hype everyone up.
15. Who, that plays for your team should we know more about and why?
I guess any one of us, as we are all pretty mad!
